City Man Charged with CDS Distribution
On 6/8/2021 the Cumberland City Police Department served a Grand Jury Indictment on Kenneth Lamont Moore. Mr. Moore was indicted on Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances charges. Mr. Moore was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond pending his initial appearance in Circuit Court. Small Plane Crash Reported Near Mexico Farms Area
On June 8th, 2021, the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, District 16 V.F.D, and a Department of Emergency Services Paramedic responded to the area of Bierman Drive, Cumberland, MD for a reported motorcycle crash. Responding units learned that several children playing in the area had heard a subject yelling for help. Upon investigating the sound, the children and their parents located an injured male in the woodline prompting the call to the Allegany County Joint Communications Center. It was later learned that Ronald Lee Garrison, 76 of Great Cacapon, WV was flying an experimental aircraft when for unknown reasons the plane crashed….
No Injuries Reported in Overnight Fire on Altamont Terrace
Authorities are investigating the cause of an apartment fire that was reported shortly after midnight at Altamont Terrace. No injuries were reported. The extent of damage is being assessed.

Maryland Redistricting Commission Starts Regional Meeting Phase
The Maryland Citizens Redistricting Commission (Commission) is holding the first of several regional meetings to solicit public comments about redistricting in Maryland. The virtual meeting is Wednesday evening, June 9 at 6 p.m. for residents of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, including residents of Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester counties.
