Disturbance Call Nets CDS, Firearm Arrest

On November 28th, 2021 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 300 block of Byrd Avenue for a reported disturbance. Officers arrived on scene spoke with Jerry Nelson who allowed officers into his residence. Once inside, officers observed several firearms in plain view. Officers continued their investigation and learned that Nelson was prohibited from possessing firearms, and he was placed under arrest. Officers then located a controlled dangerous substance on his person. A search and seizure warrant was obtained for the residence and a large amount of ammunition was recovered. Police Make Assault Arrest in Stabbing Call

On November 28th, 2021 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Greene Street address for a reported assault. The officers spoke with a victim who advised that Johnathan Hendrickson had stabbed them. The officers interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence that corroborated the information officers obtained. Hendrickson was placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.   Arrest: Johnathan Michael Hendrickson, age 21, Keyser West Virginia. Charges: Assault First Degree, Assault Second Degree Reckless Endangerment, Dangerous Weapon Intent to Injure.

Edwards Clarifies Privatization Concerns with ‘Save the Gap’

Flyers, postcards and signs around the county have been popping up in the past few months with the slogan “Save the Gap”, a reference to what some believe is an effort to privatize Rocky Gap State Park. Survey Shows Mixed Results from Parents on Vaxxing Children

​While plenty of parents are rushing out to have their children as young as five years old vaccinated, there are others holding back. Brock Encourages Repaving Great Allegheny Passage Trail

Nearly 150,000 used the Great Allegheny Passage in Allegany County last year- making it by far one of the largest tourist attractions in the region. The GAP winds 150 miles through the mountains of Southwest Pennsylvania and connects Cumberland to Pittsburgh. Alleged Knife Threats Jail City Man

On Saturday, Cumberland Police responded to a Frederick Street business for a report of a male threatening others with a knife. Upon officer’s arrival a victim directed officers inside the business and advised that Defone Davis had assaulted them. Officers entered the store, located Davis, and detained him. They spoke with a store employee and learned that Davis had been in an argument with another individual, but once it turned physical the other individual fled the business.
