WV Reminds Families Of Well-Child Visits

The West Virginia Department of Health is encouraging families to keep their children up to date on their Well Child Visits.  These health checks, utilizing statewide services offered by Birth to Three promote regular medical care and facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of any health problems found during a screening,. Screenings can include lab tests; vision, hearing and developmental screenings; physical exams; immunizations; oral health screenings and more.  Visits can begin as early as one week after birth and occur regularly up until the age of 21. 

Warrant Arrests June 26 & 27

Wednesday, June 26, 2024 Dillen Allen Smith, 30 of Flintstone, was arrested and served two (2) District Court Bench Warrant for Violation of Probation. His original convictions include: Driving Motor Vehicle on Highway Without Required License and Authorization and Theft: Less than $100. Smith was sentenced to a 1-year jail term with 11-months and 28-days suspended and 3-years unsupervised probation in the traffic case and given a probation before judgement disposition in the Theft case with a 30-day suspended sentence and 12-months supervised probation. Tuesday, June 25, 2024 Rachael Nicole Dolly, 35 of Cresaptown, was arrested and charged as a Fugitive of Justice for a warrant out of Mineral County, WV for Driving on a Suspended License, Traffic-Striking Fixtures on Highway, Possession of CDS without a Valid Prescription, and Driving Uninsured. She is being held without bond pending extradition. Mary Virginia Welch, 32 of Frostburg, was arrested on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Comply. Welch was convicted of Burglary-4th Degree-Dwelling and Assault-Second Degree and received an 18-month consecutive jail term with 3-years Supervised Probation and ordered to pay $200 Restitution. Park Street Breaking and Entering Arrest

On Monday, July 1st, 2024, at approx. 0115 hours, the Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Park St. for the report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival on scene, officers contacted the residents who advised that a male subject, Joshua Michael Clark Sr, 29, had entered their home without permission, before leaving the scene on foot. They also advised that Clark was in violation of a Protective Order, which was able to be verified by the 911 Joint Communications Center. Progress Continues For Cumberland Clock

Progress continues with funding toward the Cumberland Clock, which will be located at Hendershot Park adjacent to the Cas Taylor Bridge on Baltimore Street.  So far, over $24,000 has been raised with the goal set at $40,000. Donation booths will be set up on Washington Street for the 4th of July, the Allegany County Fair, and Heritage Days. July 4th Holiday Travel Starts Now

Triple-A is projecting that nearly 1.5 million Marylanders will travel 50 miles or more over the July 4th holiday period. 90% of travelers will reach vacation on the road. More than 100,000 residents will fly, almost an 8% increase from 2019.  AAA reminds drivers to always slow down and move over for tow trucks, police, fire, and EMS and other first responders.

Governor Gives Red Line The Green Light

Even though it does not yet have a price tag, Governor Wes Moore says the Red Line Transit project for the City of Baltimore is a go.  The Red Line, which has been on-again, off-again for decades, is slated to move commuters from western Baltimore County, east through the city and terminate at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.  Governor Moore announced that the Red Line will be light rail, not a bus line….
