Governor Moore Heads to the North Pole on Polar Express

Govenor Wes Moore and First Lady Dawn Moore along with others were guests Saturday evening on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's Polar Express.  The Moore's were welcomed by WMSR Executive Director Wes Heinz and escorted to their train car for the ride to the North Pole.

The Governor’s Public Schedule today shows Governor Wes Moore and his family in Western Maryland this evening to ride the Polar Express Train on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad at 7pm.  This event is closed to the press. Earlier in the day he will be participating in the Wreaths Across America program at Union Bridge Cemetery in Union Bridge, Maryland.

Police Requesting Public Assistance

On Friday, December 16, 2023, at approximately 630pm, The Cumberland City Police responded to the 200 block of Beall St for the report of a destruction of property. Upon arrival on scene, officers located a white passenger vehicle. The vehicle was found to have multiple punctured tires and a broken windshield. Queen City Drive Destruction of Property Arrest

On Friday, December 15th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to a business on Queen City Dr for the report of a destruction of property. Upon arrival on scene, an employee of the business was contacted who advised officers that a male subject had thrown an object through the front window of the store. The male subject was still on scene and able to be identified. Security footage of the incident was then obtained which was able to verify the male subject was responsible for the damage. Man Charged After Setting Fire to Brothers Utility Trailer

Deputy State Fire Marshals charged a Hagerstown man after determining he was responsible for setting his brother's utility trailer on fire Thursday morning. Just after 10:00 a.m., Halfway Fire Department and Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported vehicle fire in the 16900 block of Shadybrook Terrace. They discovered a utility trailer with brush and tree limbs inside on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire within minutes, and no injuries were reported. During the investigation, through interviews and surveillance video, Deputy State Fire Marshals identified the owners' brother, Christian Reyes Torres, 25, as responsible. New Single Brings Bluegrass to Elvis Presley Fans

Del McCoury Band shared their take on Elvis Presley’s “If You Talk In Your Sleep”. The single follows the recently issued “Sally Jo” as the only new music released by the group in 2023. National Civics Bee launch

Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2024 National Civics Bee launch, which aims to encourage more young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. The competition is open to all Allegany County middle school students in public, private, and homeschool curriculums. Students are encouraged to become better informed about local, state, and federal government issues and challenges in their communities.  All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders are invited to participate in the first round of the contest, a 500-word essay competition. Bishop Walsh Boys Win First Game

The Bishop Walsh Spartans won their first game Friday night in a hard fought 60-54 victory over Hancock.  David DiNola and Rodion Horbasenko led the Spartans in scoring.  Bishop Walsh next plays at Heritage Academy Monday.
