Sheriff & State Police Warrant Arrests
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police – Barrack C have combined resources to target open and active warrants. As a result, the following individuals have been apprehended. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 Charles Edward Bradshaw, 24 of Crum Lynn, PA and San Francisco, CA was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice for an open warrant out of Delaware County, PA. His charges include: Resisting Arrest, Fleeing and Eluding Police, Reckless Driving, and Driving on a Suspended License. Maryland DNR Graduates 14 Recruits
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police welcomed 14 new officers following graduation of its 64th Basic Recruit Class on November 30. Maryland Department of Natural Resources Secretary Josh Kurtz addressed the 14 new officers at their graduation ceremony at Patuxent Research Refuge in Laurel. The recruits completed 36 weeks of training at the Maryland Police and Corrections facility in Sykesville. They learned Maryland conservation law, criminal procedure, vehicle and traffic laws, wildlife identification, emergency vehicle operations, search and rescue, land and boating navigation. Local graduates include Landon Broadwater of Ellerslie, and Christopher Crable and Ryan Kalbaugh of Cumberland.
Troopers Enforcing Work Zone Safety
Recently, troopers from 6 barracks – JFK Memorial Highway, Golden Ring, Forestville, Cumberland, Berlin, and Hagerstown conducted work zone safety initiatives across Maryland. During these initiatives, troopers issued 130 total citations and warnings as well as 1 arrest for suspected DUI. Part of the enforcement effort was Maryland’s Move Over Law that requires drivers to move over when approaching any stopped, standing, or parked vehicle displaying warning signals – including hazard warning lights, road flares, or other caution signals including traffic cones, caution signs, or non-vehicular warning signs.
Criminal Summons
On December 10th Cumberland Police Officers served a Criminal Summons on Andrew Clinton Donaldson who was then released from the scene. The summons was a result of the victim claiming Andrew Clinton Donaldson did use his personal cards while he was away. An investigation was initiated and completed with the finding of several different fraudulent charges. Charges were filed at District Court: Fraud-welfare, Fraud Identity Information, Theft $100 to under $1500, Theft $100 to under $1500, Theft less $100, Theft less $100, Theft less $100, Theft less $100, Cred card: steal another and theft scheme $100 to under $1500.
City Police Arrest
On December 10th in the early morning hours, Officers from Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a disturbance behind local businesses in the area of Pershing Street that involved juveniles and adults. It was learned that an assault did occur. As a result, Jefferey Jason Edward Wood was arrested and transported to Allegany County Detention Center to await his hearing. He was later released on his own Personal Recognizance.
Circuit Court Warrant Served
On December 10th Cumberland Police Officers served a Circuit Court Warrant on Sincere Jayvon Isaac for Violating the terms and conditions of probation. The original charge was for Conspiracy-Possession with intent to distribute CDS.
Moore Calls For Discipline And Trust
Governor Wes Moore addressed the Winter Conference of the Maryland Association of Counties late last week, walking into the cave of an angry lion. County leaders still coming to grips with announced cuts in transportation projects were curious to hear what the Governor would say. He offered what he called discipline for the state but also said some new thinking has to take place… Moore’s also spoke of gaining and keeping the trust of Marylanders…

Maryland Deer Harvest Sees Increase
Hunters reported harvesting 10,864 deer on the opening weekend of the 2023 Maryland firearm season from Nov. 25-26, according to data collected by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The overall deer harvest was 7% higher than last year’s official opening weekend harvest of 10,159 deer. Hunters in Region A, which includes Allegany, Garrett, and western Washington counties, harvested 1,323 antlered deer, a 16% increase. Hunters in Region B, comprising the rest of the state, harvested 4,487 antlered and 5,054 antlerless deer. The antlered harvest was up 9% while the antlerless harvest increased 4% from last year in the region….
WV Leads Suit Against NCAA
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, working with a coalition of seven states led by Ohio, has filed a lawsuit against the NCAA that challenges the association’s Transfer Eligibility Rule. The lawsuit comes on the heels of the NCAA’s decision to deny RaeQuan Battle a transfer waiver so he can play basketball for West Virginia University.
