Autumn Glory in Garrett County

October 13th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Fall foliage tours, parades, bands, a farmer’s market, arts and crafts and a plethora of activities are some of the things the estimated 80,000 visitors at the 49th annual Autumn Glory Festival will find this weekend. The Cumberland Times News reports the festival sees both overnight and day visitors, a fact that Nicole Christian, president and CEO of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, said makes its hard to determine the true economic impact of the festival but “it is significant.”

In 2014, “Travel & Leisure” magazine listed the festival and Oakland as America’s Best Town for fall colors.

The festival got started Wednesday with the Autumn Glory Kick-Off Dinner and Reception. During the dinner, the Autumn Glory king and queen were introduced and the Golden Ambassador recognized.
