B-17 “Sentimental Journey” on display in Hagerstown

August 25th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum has a rare military aircraft on display this week – a B-17 Flying Fortress “Sentimental Journey.”

The B-17, which is maintained by Commemorative Air Force, has a long history dating back to World War II. There are only five B-17 aircraft currently flying in the world. More than 12,000 were manufactured for combat in the 1940s.

The Flying Fortress will be part of the exhibition through August 30 at Hagerstown Aviation Museum on Basore Drive. The aircraft is open to the public for ground tours from Tuesday to Thursday, from 9 am to 6 pm, and on Monday, Friday-Sunday, from 2 pm to 6 pm. For more information visit www.azcaf.org/tour.
