Feldstein Talks About Appointment To Orphans Court

December 27th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

Perhaps lost in the hustle and bustle of the long Christmas weekend was the announcement last week that Al Feldstein has been appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to fill the vacancy on the Allegany County Judge of Orphans Court. The seat had been vacant since August when veteran Judge Billie Gilpin stepped down due to health reasons. Feldstein, 68, is a local historian and retired at the end of 2014 after a lengthy career with the Maryland Office of Planning.  Although he was hired by the state in 1978, Feldstein began his career in public administration in 1973 when he worked at the Allegany County Human Resources Development Commission as a teacher and later the director of the Head Start program. His work there brings his total number of years in administrative services to 42.  He tells WCBC News that while he toyed with the idea of running for House of Delegates or County Commissioner- he ultimately decided he could better serve the community on the Orphans Court…
