Injuries and charges result from five car pile up Sunday

On Sunday, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriffs Office responded to the area of route 51 Oldtown, Maryland for a reported Motor vehicle crash with injuries.  As a result of the investigation, it was determined that 5 vehicles were involved in the accident. Vehicle 5 was disabled on the roadway and vehicle 4 stopped to help. Vehicle 3 was stopped in the roadway due to the disabled vehicle. Vehicle #2, a motorcycle was stopped behind vehicle #3, and then vehicle 1 was coming upon the accident scene and did not notice that the vehicle were stopped til the last second and crashed into the motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle was injured in the accident with serious injuries. He was flown From the scene by Trooper 5. The roadway was closed for over 1 hour. This is the only information available at this time until the investigation is completed. Four (4) of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene. 

 

Allegany County Sheriffs Office was assisted by Cumberland City Police crash reconstruction team, MSP, District 16 Fire and EMS. 

 

Charges are pending.
