On Friday, February 8, 2019, 24 year old Dakota Daugherty was arrested in Elk Garden, WV following a verbal altercation at his residence. 

Members of the WV State Police Keyser Detachment responded to the area after being notified Daugherty had a verbal altercation and discharged a firearm while at the residence.  Upon the first units arrival, Daugherty had already left the residence with the firearm.  Secondary units patrolled for the suspect vehicle who later located Daughtery in Elk Garden, WV.  Upon speaking with the family, the verbal altercation occurred with his mother while his fourteen year old sister was present.  Daugherty was reported to having been destroying property with in the residence before loading a firearm to which he then discharged from the porch allegedly into the yard.  He then fled the residence.  

Daugherty was arrested for two counts of Domestic Assault 2nd offense, being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Stolen Property (firearm), and Discharging a Firearm with-in 500' of a dwelling.  The recovered firearm is a subject of investigation also being investigated by the WV State Police Detachment.  Criminal charges are pending the completion of that investigation.
