MD Comptroller Franchot Weighing Gubernatorial Run In 2022

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot told supporters Wednesday he is weighing a run for governor in 2022.  The Democrat has been Maryland's comptroller since 2007. Before that, he served for 20 years in the House of Delegates. As comptroller, he's pushed for requiring schools to open after Labor Day and looser restrictions on craft beer sales in Maryland. Franchot has gotten along with Maryland's Republican governor, Larry Hogan, since Hogan took office in 2015, frequently siding with Hogan on the Board of Public Works. He told WCBC News a primary motivator for him to run would be to work toward putting an end to partisan politics and strong arm tactics that are dominating the halls of the state house these days…
