MD Lt. Governor Highlights Governors Crime Proposals

Maryland Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford met recently with community organizations in Baltimore as he sought to highlight Governor Larry Hogan's crime proposals. Last month, Hogan refiled his three proposals, which include mandatory minimums for repeat violent offenders, as emergency legislation.  Rutherford said critics of some of the Republican governor's proposals liken them to strategies like zero-tolerance policing that were used heavily under former Mayor Martin O'Malley. He says the Hogan administration proposals are aimed at getting dangerous felons off the street. While many lawmakers and even Baltimore City leaders have pushed back against the governor’s crime package- Rutherford said he believes the citizens are strongly in favor of the governor’s plan…
