Citizen says City Council Appointment Process Flawed

At least one of the candidates who had sought appointment to Cumberland’s City Council is not happy with the manner in which the process was handled. Kelly Robertson was one of 15 applicants interviewed last week by the mayor and council as part of the effort to fill the seat vacated by David Caporale- and she addressed the city officials Tuesday, critical of the process.  She said that the time frame for making the appointment changed from December to January; scheduled interview times were abruptly changed and there was a clear lack of transparency as the names of the 15 applicants were never made public by the city. In addition, she criticized council member Seth Bernard who she accused of being unattentive during her interview. She said it was obvious that the council was simply going through the motions…
