An early morning A tractor-trailer accident has resulted in the death of the driver. The trailer, carrying cattle overturned on U.S. Route 220 near Valley Road early Friday, causing fatal injuries.. Pennsylvania State Police investigated the accident that occurred about 5:30 a.m. north of the Pennsylvania-Maryland line. According to the Cumberland Times News the Bedford County Medical Examiner responded to the scene along with Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department and numerous other first-responders. Reports from the scene indicated some of the cattle perished in the mishap and some ran into the woods after the rig traveled off the roadway, struck a guardrail and rolled onto its side over the southbound shoulder of the roadway. Electrical lines were downed across the roadway by the crash. The Allegany County Hazmat unit and Potomac Edison personnel also responded to the scene.
