Weather Alerts Issued as Wintry Mix Advances

National Weather Service offices in our area have issues a number of
alerts concerning winter weather advancing in our direction.  Here are 
the primary threats, starting with Cumberland and heading west:

251 PM EST Sun Dec 15 2019

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO
1 PM EST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations
  of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of
  an inch.

* WHERE...Portions of western Maryland and eastern and panhandle
  West Virginia.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Monday. Snow will
  overspread the area between 9 PM and midnight tonight and it
  will continue overnight. Snow will change to sleet and freezing
  rain early Monday morning, before changing to rain for most
  areas Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions will impact the morning commute with snow covered and
  slippery roads as well as slippery sidewalks.

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM
EST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
  accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulations around a
  quarter of an inch.

* WHERE...In Maryland, extreme western Allegany County. In West
  Virginia, western Mineral County.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Monday. Snow will
  overspread the area between 9 PM and 11 PM late this evening
  and it will continue overnight. Snow will change to sleet and
  freezing rain Monday morning, and eventually freezing rain
  Monday afternoon into Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions will impact the morning commute with snow covered
  roads and sidewalks. Icy conditions are expected later Monday
  morning through Monday evening, and this may impact the evening
  commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing rain may linger into Monday night.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
