With more than 1 million Marylanders expected to travel 50 or more miles over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Maryland State Police will be increasing patrols to ensure motorists arrive safely at their destination. Maryland State Police will be conducting saturation patrols at each of the 23 barracks with a focus on impaired, aggressive and distracted driving. The goal of the enhanced enforcement is to focus on removing these dangerous drivers from Maryland highways who endanger the lives of other motorists… The initiatives, which began Wednesday, will include saturation patrols in areas known to have a higher number of DUI crashes…

A Chicago native, Shirley Walker, moved to Cumberland and in 1981 married Dr Nick Giarritta. For more than three decades she ran the interior design business “Connoisseur Interiors”. At least 4 injured in Mexico Farms Road Accident
At least four people were hurt Wednesday afternoon when a truck and ambulance collided south of Cumberland, causing the ambulance to roll on its side. The accident happened about 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Route 51 and Mexico Farms Road, according to the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services. The ambulance was from Monongalia County and was transporting a patient. Route 51 was closed for about an hour as first-responders from Allegany and Mineral counties tended to the patients and cleaned up debris from the vehicles.
