No injuries were reported Monday morning when a car hit the side of the First Peoples Credit Union building on Industrial Boulevard. Only structural damage was reported.

Allegany County Emergency services along with EMS responding Interstate 68 westbound, mile marker 50 near the Rocky Gap Casino motor vehicle accident just before the exit 50 ramp. Law Enforcement and emergency crews on scene. One adult patient transported to UPMC for treatment with minor injuries. Four children were in the car they were also transported to UPMC for evaluation,no report of any serious injuries. Law enforcement investigating the motor vehicle crash, a tow truck has been dispatched to remove the vehicle from the roadway.  

Maryland Senate Bill 1187 was introduced Friday morning as emergency legislation to expedite the rebuilding of the Key Bridge in Baltimore.  It gives the Governor extended state-of-emergency powers to access to focused tools, with appropriate guardrails, to continue to address the infrastructure needs, without having all of the emergency powers for the long term.  Senator Brian Simonaire of Anne Arundel County is a co-sponsor of the bill…  

Senate President Bill Ferguson submitted SB1188 just before recess on Friday. The bill, known as the PORT Act, will assist those directly affected by the closure of the Port of Baltimore.  The bill is now in the Finance and Budget Committee for a hearing early next week…

The Dan's Mountain Windfarm, scheduled to be operational by next February, will consist of nine General Electric turbines generating 55 megawatts of power.  Hannah Muller, Senior Director of External Affairs for Clearway that owns the project, told WCBC that residents will see economic improvements…    The Windfarm will also be giving back to the community through a special fund…

Maryland has received emergency relief funding of $60 million from the Biden Administration for operations and debris recovery from the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. President Biden said he intends for the federal government to pay for the entire cost of reconstructing the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Governor Wes Moore stressed the importance of acting quickly to remove the debris field…  

Congressman David Trone and Department of Labor Assistant Secretary Lisa Gomez hosted a roundtable discussion with substance use disorder education experts on addressing mental health as well as the importance of offering recovery care for employees. Baltimore County Senator Charles Sydnor, took to the Senate floor in Annapolis, commenting on racist remarks being made across the country, equating the Francis Scott Key Bridge to collapse with diversity, equity and inclusion in politics.  Sydnor pointed to remarks saying that black Port of Baltimore commissioners “lack knowledge,” and that the collapse was the result of “governors who prioritize diversity over the well-being and security of citizens.”…

On Sunday, March 31, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Mikayla Holliday.  The warrant was issued as the result of Holliday failing to appear in court.  She was originally charged with Theft less than $100. Holliday was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.
