Motorbikes Stolen From Bedford Dealer
Two motor bikes valued at over $18,000 were stolen from Five Star Powersports in Bedford. Surveillance video shows four suspects breaking in to the dealership and loading two Kawasaki motorbikes in to a U-Haul. The suspects then left the scene with the U-Haul and headed west on Route 30. The Pennsylvania State Police Bedford barracks is continuing to investigate.
Warrant/Criminal Summons Served
On Sunday, January 27th, 2024 the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jacob Lee Haines. The warrant was issued by District Court for an incident that occurred on January 26th, when officers responded to a Memorial Avenue residence for the report of an assault. When officers arrived, they spoke with a female victim that alleged that Haines had injured her during an altercation. Officers did observed injuries consistent with her statement. Carroll County firefighter arrested for setting fires
A volunteer Carroll County firefighter has been arrested and charged in connection to a string of fires over the last year in the Eldersburg and Liberty Reservoir area of Carroll County. Allison Nicole Creutzer, 20, of Eldersburg, has been charged with intentionally setting fire to grass, brush, and woodland, three counts of second-degree malicious burning, and one misdemeanor count of calling in a false report of a fire. Creutzer, a volunteer firefighter with the Reese Volunteer Fire Company, was arrested yesterday evening by the Baltimore Environmental Police, who assisted during the investigation. Women’s Track & Field Impresses at Jim Wuske Invite
Frostburg State Women's Indoor Track and Field team competed on Saturday in the Jim Wuske Invite, where they finished top-five in multiple events. Freshman Isabella Mastria was the lone first place finisher for Frostburg, taking first in the long jump with a jump of 5.32m, which is the fifth-best in FSU history. It was a busy day for Mastria, who also placed fifth in the 60m dash with an 8.00 finish, and the 200m dash with a 26.56 finish. Locust Grove Sewage Project Progressing
Allegany County benefits greatly from state programs, according to County Commissioner Creade Brodie. Brodie told WCBC News that after 13 years in office he has seen the county reap millions of dollars in support. One of the biggest infrastructure projects in Western Maryland is currently under construction in Locust Grove near the Narrows. Brodie told WCBC News that the $30 million project is a pumping station for sewage.
Mt. Savage Coaching Veteran Dies at 85
Longtime Mount Savage teacher and coach George Bishields died Friday at the age of 85. Bishields coached baseball, basketball, and soccer, winning two state titles in soccer and one in baseball. The Durst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

On January 26, 2024, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department served two Bench Warrants on Dolphin Ricardo Smith. The first Bench Warrant was issued by the District Court for Violation of Probation. The original charge was Assault 2nd degree. Maryland Democratic Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger announced Friday that he will not seek reelection this fall. Ruppersberger is completing his 12th term in the House representing the second district in Maryland. The other open seat in Maryland for Congress is the 6th District, now represented by David Trone, who is running for Senate.
