On Friday, January 12th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Issac Michael Case, 23, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on January 4th in the 900 block of Maryland Ave. During the incident, Case, along with other individuals was placed under arrest for burglary of a vacant home. During his Initial intake, Case had been charged under a false name that he had provided to the arresting officers. Criminal Summons for Gay Street Burglary
On Friday, January 12th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Aubrey Anne Strachan, 36, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on January 6th in the 900 block of Gay St. During the incident it is alleged that Strachan had entered a neighbor’s apartment without permission due to an argument over loud music. Bench Warrant Served
On Friday, January 12th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police arrested Shane Lee York, 51, of Cumberland MD. York was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on January 11th. The warrant alleges York failed to appear in District Court on that date for a previous charge of urinating/defecating in a public place. York was taken before a District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was released on his own recognizance. Maryland Cannabis Administration today released year-end sales data for 2023 and launched a Medical and Adult-Use Cannabis Data Dashboard. The data dashboard provides site visitors with interactive maps, sales and volume figures, and graphs that allow users to explore a wide range of data formatted in aggregate sales, licensing and patient data. Sales Data December marks the highest grossing month since adult-use cannabis legalization took effect on July 1, 2023. MD Board Of Education Seeks Public Input In Superintendent Search
The Maryland State Board of Education will host a series of virtual town halls to obtain feedback from families, educators, administrators and community members on the State Superintendent of Schools selection process. The town halls will be conducted by executive search firm Hazard, Young, and Attea via Zoom on January 16, 17, and 18. Somerset Man Holds People At Gunpoint
An 81-year old Somerset man is being held without bail after holding people at gunpoint in Milford Township. Kermit Gribble was threatening employees at a business where members of his family worked and refusing to let employees leave. When police arrived, he allegedly told the officers to shoot him. An employee of the business was able to get the gun away from Gribble. He is being held in the Somerset County Jail.
Maryland Avenue Assault Arrest
On 1/11/2024 at approximately 10:00 PM the Cumberland City police were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Maryland Avenue for an assault complaint. Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim who advised Liane Walsh was intoxicated and struck them in the face. Officers observed an injury on the victim’s face. Officers spoke to two other witnesses inside the residence who advised that Walsh assaulted the victim. Walsh was placed under arrest without incident and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center for central booking. Walsh received a hearing before a District Court Commissioner and was released on…
