Cummings Youth Program Celebrates 25th

Sarbanes Not Seeking Another Term in Congress

Another Maryland Congressional seat is now open with the announcement that Representative John Sarbanes, a Democrat from the state’s 3rd district will not seek a tenth term.  Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen released statements praising Sarbanes’ work while in the House of Representatives and fellow Congressman David Trone commended Sarbanes’ work in public service.  Sarbanes’ father, Paul Sarbanes also served as a Maryland representative in the US Congress and Senate for over 30 years.

Underage Drinking, Out of Towners factors in Saturday’s Tragic Shooting

Law Enforcement continue to piece together the events leading to the fatal shooting of a 17 year old male and injuring three others in Cumberland Saturday. A number of individuals from out of town were detained for questioning immediately after the tragic event. ATTEMPTED MURDER ARREST

On Saturday, October 28, 2023 at approximately 9:37 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department and the Cumberland Fire Department responded to a residence in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for a possible stab wound victim.  Officers arrived and observed the victim sitting on the floor with a stab wound.  Officers rendered aid to the victim until the Cumberland Fire Department arrived and took over care.  The victim reported that the suspect that stabbed him was at a residence in the 400 block of Race Street.  The victim stated that the suspect had also assaulted another person at the…

BODY ATTACHMENT SERVED

On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a Circuit Court body attachment on Abree Braithwaite.  The body attachment was child support-related.  Braitwaite was arrested and transported to the Central Booking.  She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance. Men’s Cross Country Finishes Regular Season at Go Fast River Run

 Frostburg State Men's Cross Country team competed in the Go Fast River Run on Saturday morning, placing sixth.     Freshman Jaxon Jones finished with the fastest time for Frostburg, knotting a 28:56.2 time for a team-high 24th finish.  Freshman Isayah Stewart was next in line for the Bobcats, crossing the finish line in 38th place with a 30:37.5 time.     Freshman Nathan Hillhouse (31:02.9) and junior Logan Folmer (31:10.2 placed back-to-back taking 44th and 45th place, while junior Eric Hutchison clocked a 31:43.3 time for 49th place and sophomore Justin Dowell ran a 32:27.2 for a 57th place finish.     FSU will look…

Attorney General Brown Joins Multistate Coalition Fighting for Health and Nutrition Stability for Immigrant Families

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown today joined a coalition of 17 Attorneys General in support of the Biden administration’s defense of its revised “public charge” regulations, which determine who can obtain or keep legal immigration status. The revised regulations reject changes undertaken by the previous administration, which caused hardworking immigrants and their families to avoid or refuse critical health, nutrition, and housing programs for which they qualified.
