Maryland Health Care for All Legislation Passed

CCA Administrator Resigns

The Administrator for Calvary Christian Academy in Cresaptown has resigned his position.  Dan Thompson had previously shared in early March that he was taking an administrative leave from the position. There have been ongoing issues between parents of students and leadership at Calvary Baptist Church. A recent meeting indicated that 70% of the staff had chosen not to return for the next school year.

Station Owner Recalls Father’s Reaction

WCBC begins its 50th year of broadcasting later this month.  A caller congratulated Dave Norman on the achievement and Dave recalled hoping for a pat on the back from his dad but was greeted with something else once the paperwork to start WCBC Radio was signed…     “Well, congratulations son. Cresap Street trespassing complaint

On April 10th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Cresap St residence for a trespassing complaint. The caller advised that a male subject was inside the home and would not leave the property. The subject was also reported to be breaking items inside the home. Once officers arrived on the scene, they observed the male subject exit the home and run toward a parked vehicle. The subject was able to enter the vehicle and start it, attempting to drive away. County Budget Update

The Allegany County Commissioners met Thursday afternoon for another budget session to chase down ways to arrive at a balanced budget.  While County Administrator Jason Budget says there are a lot of moving parts and the county is still awaiting final direction from the state, commissioners decided to roll back the property tax from a proposed six cents to two cents, increase the income tax to 3.2%, level-fund the library system saving $87,000 and eliminate 10 county positions, most through retirements. The first preliminary budget will be presented May 1.

Special Workgroup Assembled in Annapolis
