The Allegany County Animal Shelter has seized two dogs that attacked and killed another dog on its porch in South Cumberland. The dogs were running loose when the incident occurred. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s Pumpkin Train will run a special schedule on Saturday and Sunday during the last two weekends of October. On Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at approximately 1:21 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department stopped a vehicle on N. Centre Street. A police K-9 was utilized and alerted to the odor of drugs in the vehicle. One of the occupants, later identified as Michael Campbell, initially provided officers with a false name. Campbell was found to have two active Circuit Court bench warrants for his arrest. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is making preparations for the statewide Adopt-A-Highway Fall Cleanup on Saturday, September 27th. Individuals, families, churches and community groups gather annually to pick up trash on state-maintained roads, back roads, or main routes. Local DOH garages provide supplies for the event. Last year, volunteers removed over 215,000 pounds of litter from roadways in the Mountain State.
