Pennsylvania State Police report that a Berlin woman was killed Sunday afternoon when her motorcycle crossed the center line and crashed into an SUV. The victim was identified as 57 year old Stacey Hartman. The accident took place on Glades Pike.

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department were on patrol in the area of Queen City Drive when they observed a vehicle with a suspended registration. A traffic stop was initiated, and upon making contact with the operators, the Officer requested a K9 to the scene. The K9 scan resulted in a positive alert on the vehicle. The vehicle and occupants were searched, and as a result, a controlled dangerous substance and paraphernalia were located. The operator, Cheryl Livengood, and the passenger, Joshua Reikie, were placed under arrest. Livengood was issued a citation for CDS paraphernalia…

Created to ensure consumer confidence that crabmeat served is Maryland blue crab meat, the True Blue program aims to highlight restaurants and retailers using Maryland crab in their products. On Monday, May 12, 2025, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Oak Street for the report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers located the complainant, who advised that they were inside a residence on Boone Street when the incident occurred. They exited the residence and discovered the vehicle was missing. Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office assisted Officers in locating the vehicle and the operator in the area of Park Street. The city of Cumberland’s Downtown Development Commission is working toward becoming a Business Improvement District. This move would eliminate the current DDC structure and provide more opportunities for downtown business owners, which could include district upgrades, security, and marketing. There are approximately 1,000 B-I-Ds, or business improvement districts in the United States. Rail Fest is making a return to Western Maryland this fall. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is planning the event, occurring for the first time in over a decade. Rail Fest will be held during the annual Heritage Days festival September 13th and 14th.
